Why do my portraits differ from the other ones?

Unique technique

It is used when you draw with black and white as well as color pastels. It is developed by me over the years in order to draw portraits which look like real people.

Individuality

The technique developed by me allows through the strong contrast between the black and white and color pastels and the intermediate smooth transitions of the range of gray colors to achieve a greater expressiveness when the used picture lacks such contrast and it is paler or more colorless.

This technique is extremely successful especially when you use old black and white pictures. As a result the drawn portrait is an improved version of the relevant picture, i.e. it is more alive and impressive.

Apart from the individual features of the face of a given person, which are essential to the resemblance between the portrait and the person, it is achieved mainly through the expressiveness of the eyes of the portrait –they are alive and amazingly realistic. It is true that people’s eyes are expression of their souls. In this case not only a maximum accuracy is achieved but the portrait is more than just a copy of the picture, (it evokes the sense of alive presence).

Requirements for the picture

A good portrait is drawn when the painter “reads” the person in the picture. This is achieved through intuition and a long-lasting experience in drawing (in this case more than 24 years) which allows the painter to express their view about the personality of the person in a concrete picture.

Requirements for the picture

1. Favorite picture-this is the picture that you prefer to the rest.

2. Picture of good quality-this picture is in focus and has further details. Its resolution has to be higher than 60-80 kilobytes and the painter decides whether it is appropriate.

3. The pictures are sent as an attached file to my email or as a folder to my gmail

4. It is desirableto send more than one picture in order to specify the missing details in the main picture.

5. The artist uses only the main picture to draw a portrait

   The pictures made in a photo studio (including passport photos) are very appropriate. The high quality of the picture is a necessary prerequisite for the high quality of the portrait.

Work process

When I receive your email and your picture, I will contact you through email to send you my bank account so that you can transfer the money to it. When your portrait is ready, I will send you a picture of it through email. After you approve the portrait and send me the money, I will send you the portrait by post at the specified address and pack it appropriately so that it won’t be damaged.

Materials

I use oil paints, pastels and other materials of high quality of well-known brands in this field such as “Royal Talens”,“Schmincke”, “Stabilo”, “Faber Castell”, etc.The oil portraits are drawn on a canvas and the pastel portraits – on special paper. Thus, durability of the drawn portraits is achieved when the following requirements are kept, namely: :
-pastel portraits are stored under glass
-all kinds of portraits can’t be exposed to direct sunlight
-pastel portraits can’t be exposed to moisture
